The Automatic Handling Core Joiner is a fully automatic system for gluing recycled cores into new cores.
Every year the paper industry uses millions of cardboard and paper cores during the papermaking process. These cardboard tubes come in all different sizes and of different grades. In a typical parent core handling system for the Tissue Industry, these cores can weigh in at 100 pounds with a 16-inch diameter and each of these industrial-strength cardboard cylinders can carry a parent roll of paper up to 30 feet in circumference. Paper manufacturers reuse these cores repeatedly to avoid the high costs of disposal and replacement. Traditional methods of crushing, repulping, making board and cores are costly.

Brown Bag Lunches
At AHI, we offer "Brown Bag" lunch internal training programs for our 125 employees. We call this AHI University and it serves to cross-train all of our employees so that they are familiar with the other jobs in the company. Of course, a one-day class doesn't take the place of years of training and experience. However, it can go a long way toward improving how employees in different departments view one another.
At AHI, we have employees in sales, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, controls engineering, purchasing, fabrication, machining, painting, electrical and mechanical assembly. By giving our employees a working knowledge of what the other departments face on a typical day, we give them the tools they need to respect each other, as well as help create systems and solutions that increase production and efficiency across departmental lines.
Improving Morale and Efficiency
Some of our programs are taught in a classroom, while others take employees out in the plant or in the field. And, of course, we encourage employees to bring their lunch. Each class features an open, informal format with plenty of time for questions and answers. We tackle a different topic each week and we're proud of our very successful employee participation.
Culture of Automatic Handling
Any company can talk about culture. However, at Automatic Handling International (AHI), we put that talk into action. We feel strongly that good, integrated training is essential for a cohesive work environment where people in all departments and in all jobs treat one another with respect.
